Introduction

Welcome to the Music Technology Hackathon 2025! Over two days, we’ll bring together coders, musicians, designers, engineers, and creatives to collaborate and build innovative projects at the intersection of music and technology. Whether you’re prototyping a new plugin, experimenting with interactive audio tools, or designing fresh experiences for creators, this hackathon is your playground to test bold ideas and make them real.

🛠 Tools and Technologies

You’re free to use any tools, frameworks, or platforms that help bring your idea to life. In addition, our sponsors will provide access to:

  • MuseHub — Extend platforms like MuseScore and Audacity, or build new apps/plugins for music creators.

  • Audiotool — Leverage the online DAW and its APIs to create extensions, integrations, or new workflows.

  • ABRSM — Use performance recordings to help experts produce constructive feedback
  • Open Category — Use any other tech (Max/MSP, TouchDesigner, Web Audio, hardware, AI/ML frameworks, etc.) to create something original.

Mentors will be available throughout the weekend to guide you on using these technologies effectively.

💡 Inspiration

Not sure where to start? Here are some directions to spark ideas:

  • AI + Music — generative composition tools, real-time audio effects, or creative ML models.

  • Collaboration Platforms — new ways for musicians to create together online.

  • Instruments & Performance — experimental controllers, interactive installations, or live performance hacks.

  • Education & Accessibility — tools that make learning, teaching, or experiencing music more inclusive.

Remember: you don’t need a fully polished product — a working prototype and a bold idea are enough to shine!
